Chilkoot Trailhead Service

Frontier Excursions & Adventures provides backpackers with transportation to the Chilkoot Trailhead in Dyea, and pickup from Log Cabin and Carcross to Skagway. Reservations are recommended, but are not necessarily required. Walk in reservations can be arranged at our office 3rd & Broadway in Golden North Hotel Lobby. Service is provided May-September.

trailhead dropoff service: $10 p.p.
Skagway to the trailhead is 9 miles (15 km). Call or stop by our office for service.

log cabin pickup: $35 p.p.
Log Cabin to Skagway is 30 miles (50 km). By reservation only. Minimum of 2 people for service.

carcross pickup: $62.50 p.p.
Carcross to Skagway is 65 miles (108 km). Minimum of 4 for service, by reservation only.

chilkoot trail information
The Chilkoot Trail is a 33-mile trail used during the Gold Rush of 1898 by stampeders heading to the Klondike gold fields. Starting in Dyea, Alaska, and straddling the US/Canada border, the trail ends on the shore of Lake Bennett, Yukon Territory, Canada. The average trip length for the hike is 3-5 days. Permits are required, and reservations are limited. The charge for the permit is $50 CAD, children 5-16 are half price. In addition, reservations are $11.70 CAD per person.
